MAD IN EUROPE
In 2007, Markus Danz, the creator of the MAD IN EUROPE project, had the idea to cycle across Europe without any money. He started from his home, near the center of the European Union. The journey was
to take him to Gibraltar and back. Along the way, he planned to earn some money by doing odd jobs to get by. He failed. In the middle of France, he developed serious problems with his ears. A friend picked
him up and brought him back home. A good decision. Markus Danz didn't want to lose his hearing.
Years later, the initial idea of adventure evolved into a project that aims to bring people in Europe together through music, art, genuine encounters and enjoyment. Markus Danz, who has been making music since childhood, is also a professional photographer, an enthusiastic mountaineer, an adventurer, a private pilot and also a wine & cooking enjoyment enthusiast. Today’s he’s playing the drums, the guitar and he is also a singer-songwriter. By the way, the abbreviation MAD stands for his initials and also for "a little bit crazy“, or, if you like, "a bit of madness“. It’s a little play on words. Take it with a grain of salt.

THE PROJECT
In 2012, Markus Danz began restoring a vintner's house on the Moselle river in southwestern Germany. Alongside his passion for good wines, good food, and enjoyment, the idea matured to create a meeting place for music, art, and culture in the small winegrowing village. With the help of his friends, he was able to realize this project. And as is often the case with projects, they constantly evolve and are never finished. That's a good thing, because it keeps you actively engaged.
The MAD IN EUROPE project aims to encourage musicians and artists from all over Europe to meet and exchange ideas in a creative and peaceful atmosphere characterized by curiosity and interest. Music is an essential part of this. Music begins where words end and our language needs no words. Please, feel free to contact us, if you would like to participate in our project.
